Re: A tribute to Micro-Antics and preserving all their titles

Hi Huffelduff, many thanks and glad you enjoyed it!

By the sounds of it, Paul had just moved onto other projects and away from computers. I'm not sure what he did next, but I will check with Toby.

A tribute to Micro-Antics and preserving all their titles

I've been working recently on a huge tribute piece on Micro-Antics, the company that produced the amazing Chariot Race for the Commodore VIC-20. We have finally preserved all their titles and these are now all available to download (including an unreleased game), along with a gallery of dev material...

Re: New release : Pentagorat (32k)

Thank you for such a great game - been playing for a few days over the holiday break on the real thing, and i'm amazed to see such a game of its kind on the Vic 20. :D

Re: Problem with Chicken Challenge game

Tested on real hardware with a 1541-II connected and switched on. Confirmed that it disables the joystick and keyboard controls when the drive is switched on. Switch it off, and suddenly it works fine. Might be a side effect of the Stop Tape routine perhaps? Anyway, cool to know what it is - and not...

Re: Problem with Chicken Challenge game

Cheers Groepaz - Makes for a logical explanation to why it was working suddenly for me - I likely disabled it whilst button mashing to try and get a response from the game ;-)

I'll test tomorrow evening on the real thing with a 1541-II attached (test on and off) and see how it behaves.

Re: Problem with Chicken Challenge game

Just tried your dumps Frank. Work perfectly for me in my VICE 2.4 here. You HAVE stopped the virtual tape deck as it asks on the screen, correct? ;) Yes! ;-) The music was playing fine, and the game objects were moving - but using the keyboard or joystick controls were completely non-responsive for...

Problem with Chicken Challenge game

Hi all, I've just been preserving a game called Chicken Challenge, which seems to have backed up fine and the game plays - but the controls don't seem to work at all (either Keyboard or Joystick). Tested in Vice 2.4. Here are 4 backups that i've made: http://home.retrogaming64.com/dumps/chickenchall...

Road Frog (Spectrum games) preserved

Hi all, David Selwood, who produced a number of games for Ocean in the early days - very kindly loaned his personal copy of Road Frog by Spectrum Games (who later became Ocean), which was his first ever game. If anyone would like to check it out, then here it is: http://www.gtw64.co.uk/extras/road-f...

Re: Vic20 Minority Report

Mat, i'd highly recommend "3D Silicon Fish", which is a pretty neat maze game with hints of Bomberman in it with the exploding mines. All on an unexpanded Vic 20, with a wonderful colour cycle effect when you die at the end. Fairly obscure too and not a title that many have had the chance ...

Re: Preserved: Plumb Crazy

Great to hear from you Mark. If you would like any hi-res scans of the cover inlay - let me know.

Will be great to hear if you did any other Vic 20 titles (or even C64 ones too).

Re: Monster Muncher?

Just wanted to resurrect this thread to see if anyone out there ever found a copy of the Vic 20 version?

The Spectrum version is out there, but Matthew Smith's un-expanded Vic 20 version sadly isn't just yet. It's possible that only about 50 copies or so ever sold.

Re: Gamebase20 version 3!

Thanks Mat, really superb job with the archive - and so much new stuff to check out! Having a lot of fun going through all the different authors and discovering stuff I didn't know they had done! :)
